A new species of Dendrobium has been discovered in a collection from Kon Ka Kinh, Vietnam. Its habit was similar to Dendrobium fuerstenbergianum, however upon blooming those plants proved to be a very different species, related to Dendrobium wattii Rchb.f. We therefore decided to describe Dendrobium vocongii sp. nov. Schettler & Pham as a new species. The name honors its discovered, Mr. Vo Van Cong of Kontum.
A new forma of Paphiopedilum micranthum has been discovered in the collection of Mr. Ngo Trung Kien, in Thai Nguyen... A colorform of Paphiopedilum argus from Philippines with many black warts, crowded and often confl uent, which covering the greater portion of the petals, is classified as Paph. argus forma nigricans.
More than 3000 numbers of orchid specimens collected during the last nearly twenty years were studied. The orchid flora of Vietnam includes 155 (100%) genera and 1005 (100%) species.
Among the 400 orchid pictures which were generously sent to me by Karel Petrzelka, the Czech consul to Vietnam, I was fascinated by one in particular: the Papilionanthe pedunculata. It is a wonderful orchid that I have never seen before. I wondered how there could be such a beautiful creation of a flower with such an eccentric shape and extraordinary color.
A species, new to science, is described from Son La province, Vietnam. The new species is similar to B. yongtaiense, B. layae and B. sridithii in the hairy lip at base but clearly differs by the papillose margin and inner surface of dorsal sepal and petals, lip without mid keel and dense hairs on lateral keels, stelidia 2 times longer than 3 similar species.
Three species, Bulbophyllum layae, B. metallica and B. papilligerum (all from sect. Cirrhopetalum) are described as new for science. All of these novelties are local endemics of limestone areas of northern Vietnam. Additionally, three species, B. alcicorne (sect. Brachystachya), B. psittacoglossum and B. yunnanense (both from sect. Sestochilus) are recorded for the flora of Vietnam for the first time.
The unusual plant described here was discovered in 2010 during botanical investigations conducted by international team of botanists under leadership of Nong Van Duy, Vice Director of the Tay Nguyen Institute for Scientific Research, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology in the northeastern part of Tay Nguyen Plateau (Central Highlands) of southern Vietnam.
Dendrobium thinhii (D. sect. Breviflores), Sarcoglyphis tichii, Taeniophyllum phitamii (T. subgen. Codonosepalum Schltr.) and Trichoglottis canhii are described and illustrated as species new to science.
Both species are local endemics of the Bidoup mountain system belonging to the South Annamese floristic province of the Indochinese floristic region within Lam Dong and Khanh Hoa provinces of southern Vietnam.

The paper presents new data on the orchid diversity in Vietnam obtained in 2016–2020. It contains descriptions of one genus (Apetalanthe) and two species new to science (Apetalanthe gracilis, Nervilia appressifolia), as well as one genus (Neottianthe) and four species (Calanthe tricarinata, Collabium yunnanense, Dendrobium praecinctum, Neottianthe secundiflora) new for the flora of Vietnam.
The orchid species new for science, Cylindrolobus chienii (Orchidaceae) discovered on Chu Mu Mountain, M’Drak District, Dak Lak Province of southern Vietnam is described and illustrated. It morphologically close to C. gloensis and C. bidupensis but differs from them in glabrous 2-flowered inflorescence, calli on labellum and character of the lip indumentum.
